I am the danger.

This look had me feeling very Rachel Zoe meets Bryan Cranston. The white sleeveless trench coat by Forever 21 makes me feel like a chic little fashionista who just came back from the lab. This is my first time breaking in my Signature by Shoedazzle black leather slip on heels, so I wanted to make sure I found a great way to style them. The distressed denim boyfriend jeans with a black chiffon button up tank tie in the trench coat in a fresh, not to over-the-top, sophisticated way. My blue sunnies with the white rim are by Crap Eyewear, which I think gives this look a young, edgy vibe. A simple silver and turquoise bracelet and a top knot keep it clean. It was such a beautiful day in Los Angeles, and this is a great ensemble to wear while trying to stay in with the newest trends but not get overheated in the California sun.

Tar Heel.

Social atmospheres are my happy place. Lately however, I have been trying to experiment by going to locations all around Los Angeles that I have never been to before. The La Brea Tar Pits happen to be one of those locations. I can’t even tell you the last time I have gone to anything close to a museum – maybe middle school? In Oregon? So when I left it up to my boyfriend where to take us for the afternoon, he suggested this. I have to admit, spending the day in a museum with a loved one is actually pretty cute, and looking at all the fossils was pretty surreal as well. I will say however, the Tar Pits smelled pretty bad. They definitely lived up to the name. I am always one to wear heels, I definitely don’t own nearly as many sandals or flats compared to pumps, wedges and platforms. Although, when aware that we would be walking around a lot I thought it was completely appropriate to break out my new glittery Leila Stone sandals. I love a statement shoe, so If I am going to wear a sandal it might as well be a statement pair. The white linen high wasted cropped pants are super breathable and very comfortable – just don’t spill your lunch on them. I wore them with a cropped navy sweat shirt from Forever 21. I finished this look off with a top knot with a loose wave and my red Hamilton bag by Michael Kors. I recommend this look for a casual daytime date while walking around and trying something new.

Your Mission.

One of my favorite colors of the moment is mustard yellow. I feel like it’s a color that is easily wearable by most skin tones and it is perfect for spring. Right now is festival season so you are going to be seeing lots of vintage colors, crochets, ponchos, fringe and over sized sun hats. I personally haven’t been much of a festival girl, (you know the ones who buy their tickets a year in advance). Personally, I’m kind of over the whole high wasted shorts with a cropped bra top with smilie faces and yin-yang accessories. I think there’s a more mature way to wear high wasted shorts. I decided to wear mine with a white linen tunic tucked in. I also paired some simple gold accessories with the look, because I didn’t want it to become too busy and the gold really adds a little extra pop off of the mustard yellow shorts. A clean nude patent leather dress sandal accentuates the legs with the shorts making them appear longer and leaner ( I mean, who doesn’t want that?). I did a slightly loose pony tail to keep the front neckline clean, and a light plum colored lip “romancin'” by Mac cosmetics. These photos were taken at the San Fernando Mission in Los Angeles, which happens to be in my opinion, one of the most beautiful parks I have been to yet. The smell of fresh flowers and the warmth of the sun is really quite tranquil and a reminder that spring is in full bloom. Time to get your spray tans, add some new shorts to your spring wardrobe and get out there and smell the roses.

Days off for me are very valuable. I have to attempt to fit in everything I love to do within a 12 hour time frame. Manicure, pedicure, shopping, finding inspiration, going to lunch, going to happy hour and whatever the later hours bring. When it comes to running around, I have to find an outfit that is appropriate for day to night and shoes that I won’t break a leg in while walking down the streets of Los Angeles. I have had a pair of boyfriend jeans since they first surfaced before 2010 circa Urban Outfitters, but I have not purchased any since. I decided to add another pair to my wardrobe. I really love these distressed denim boyfriend jeans because they are so versatile. You can throw them on with basically anything, sneakers, heels, a crop top, a boyfriend tee and in my case a statement necklace. Minus the heels, this entire look was purchased from Forever 21 including the statement necklace. This entire look can be purchased for under $75 dollars so watch out Kylie Jenner! It’s spring time so that means out with the old and in with the new! Get excited, it’s my favorite time of the year.
